Air handler repair in Port Charlotte covers the indoor half of your system: the cabinet in the closet, garage or attic that holds the blower, the evaporator coil, the drain pan and, on heat pump systems, the backup heat strips.
Blower motors wear out a lot. Older homes have PSC motors with a run capacitor that weakens over time, and newer systems use ECM variable-speed motors with an electronic module that can burn out after a surge. We test the motor, the capacitor and the control signal to find which part quit.
Drain pans rust through. Steel pans in older air handlers corrode in our humid climate, and a rusted pan leaks slowly into the platform or ceiling. We replace the pan where possible, or add a secondary pan with a float switch under the unit.
Evaporator coils leak. Formicary corrosion, the pinhole pitting that shows up in copper coils in Florida homes, is a common reason. We leak test the coil and quote a coil replacement if that is the fix.
Heat strips burn out. Sequencers and limit switches go bad, and you find out on the first cold morning. We check them during fall service.
